Book Review: C++ Primer 4th Ed.

Alright I’ve read what must amount to a mountain of C++ books and I have been looking all over for the book that actually told you what you needed to know about the language. Things like lvalues and rvalues, void pointers, casting types, you know the whole nine yards. I think I finally found a book that does just that!

C++ Primer 4th Ed.C++ Primer 4th Ed. by Stanley B. Lippman et al. is an amazing look at the C++ language from the inside out. Like honestly, I learned more about C++ programming in the first 96 pages than I did during my university degree! No lie! Granted that all the courses I had taken during my academic career were focused on OOP/OOD use software engineering approaches, not the language itself.

It’s a massive read, some 800+ pages chalk full of knowledge. Great as a learning tool or as a reference. There a few instances although where a new student to C++ may get a bit confused, but overall a great addition to any programmer’s library.
